Tecumseh Public Schools is proud to unveil our new Strategic Design. This was developed over the last few months with input from the community, staff, and Board of Education. As a District our new mission is to be "Uncompromisingly Learner Centered." Our vision for the future of the district is that
“We are a dynamic learning community taking BOLD steps to ensure all learners are inspired and empowered for life.” Please take a few minutes to watch the video below for a quick outline of the Strategic Design. If you would like to review the entire design at length, please do so on our website.

Reorganization Update

Our internal Reorganization Committees have begun meeting to process through and work with all of the feedback from our first Community Meeting. We have sent administrators and teachers to STEAM schools to observe and learn, and we have held two meetings with TMP to discuss the physical changes to the future 7/8 buildings. Our next Community Meeting is at the end of November where our group facilitators will present progress to those present and discuss further issues.

Please feel free to review the process so far or to leave a comment at the Reorganization Website.

Thank you again for your continued support of TPS.

Both the Reorganization and the new Strategic Design have talked a lot about Mass Customized Learning and how we need to change our current, traditional system of education to one that is learner centered. This TED Talk (see below) called "The Myth of Average" is a perfect example of WHY we must do this.
As a district that is dedicated to enhancing the educational experiences of our students, TPS has the opportunity for our female students, grades 5th-12th to complete ‘The Girls’ Index’ survey. This is voluntary and anonymous survey that aims to learn more about the issues currently impacting girls in our community and throughout the country. ‘The Girls’ Index’ is an anonymous survey that asks girls questions about some of the issues impacting girls today, like social media use, friendships, school, self-concept, body image, leadership, and their plans for the future.
We are excited to have the opportunity for our girls to complete this project as it will provide us with the ability to ensure our educational efforts continue to be personalized to the needs of our girls. Additionally, we will be able to contribute to a national understanding of how to effectively support and educate girls.
Girls will spend 15-20 minutes completing the anonymous ‘Girls’ Index’ survey. Girls will not put their name or other identifying information on the survey and their participation is completely voluntary. If you wish to opt out of having your student to participate in this survey, please download a Girl’s Index Opt-Out form and return the form to your student's school office by November 4, 2016.
Please call Heather Perez, Executive Director of Communities In Schools of the Tecumseh Area at 517-423-7574 with any questions or concerns.
